Charlotte Holds Its Own In Latest Home Price Index
Thursday, June 26, 2008
The S&P/Case-Shiller home-price indexes, a measure of home prices, showed continued declines in April, with prices in every region surveyed showing year-over-year declines. In twenty metropolitan areas, home prices fell some 15.3% from one year earlier. Charlotte's decline was minuscule, about 0.1% from April of last year. From March to April, however, Charlotte prices actually increased. Only Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Cleveland, Dallas, Denver, Portland and Seattle were able to avoid declines from March to April. Charlotte and Dallas are the only two cities to have two consecutive months of month-to-month growth.
